For bookings from 1st to 30th April 2020
It is with extreme sadness that Longstone Lodge will be closing for the first 30 days of this season (1-31 April 2020).
We have thought long and hard about this decision and in light of the escalating Coronovirus situation and UK Government advice we feel that in order to keep guests and staff safe we cannot responsibly operate at the current time.
Longstone Lodge is built on hostel style communal living, social interaction and family, which as such, makes it impossible to practise social distancing as well as providing a relaxing place to stay. The last thing we would want to do is restrict movement around the property or apply any other affecting measures and impact on hard earned holiday enjoyment.
We are therefore offering guests booked to stay during April 2020 the following options:
• Alteration of booking date for later in 2020 or for 2021*. Identical room bookings will be held at 2020 prices.
• Cancel your stay with full refund (minus 5% administration for card processing fees)
• Cancellation of booking with full cost paid held in credit for use later this year or in 2021*.
(* where availability allows)
We understand how disappointing this news will be, as it is for us too. We hope for your patience and understanding at this unprecedented time. We wish you and your families all the best and hope to see you at Longstone Lodge in the near future.
Colin, Amy and Suzy
If you are booked for May 2020 and beyond
Please note at this time, we still hope very much to honour all bookings from May 2020. However we will be closely following the Government advice and will keep booked guests updated via email. Thank you.

On Scilly, the sun is out (as we type) and it’s business as usual. There’s no advice against domestic travel within the UK, but we understand that the situation is concerning to our customers and may change as the days move on.
As a business we are making changes and following the advice of Public Health England to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to maximise the safety of our customers, staff and island community.
What are we doing to help?
Here is an idea of the measures we are putting in place, we ask that you help us keep Longstone Lodge & Cafe, and Scilly, safe by assisting with the highest possible levels of hygiene.
We are providing handwash and antibacterial cleaners where appropriate for use.
We have increased our deep cleaning and regular disinfecting schedules throughout the Lodge and Cafe.
The hostel and cafe already have high standards of cleanliness however these will be increased, including regular disinfecting of things like door handles, switches, handrails and public washroom facilities. We will further enhance our procedures as required.
Additional sanitisation measures are being put in place in the Cafe including additional external table space and the provision of individual condiments and personal silverware. Our menu is available online should you prefer to use your mobile device to browse instead.
All staff are asked to wash their hands at least every 30 minutes, and given advice on how to do this effectively.
Staff will be provided with up-to-date advice on what symptoms to look out for.
What customers can do to help?
Wash your hand thoroughly and often.
Keep hostel kitchen surfaces and utensils clean and tidy.
Please vacate the premises if you feel unwell.
Please respect fellow customers and staff.
We want to minimise the risk of Coronavirus reaching our islands. So we ask every customer and staff member to adhere to Government advice and self-isolate rather than travel to Scilly if they have any symptoms of Coronavirus.
Do I need travel insurance?
We always strongly recommend travel insurance for your holiday.
Can I cancel my accommodation booking?
The Lodge and Café are open as usual from 1st April 2020, and there’s no government advice against domestic travel. Therefore, our usual terms and conditions apply. However should you wish to alter your booking to 2021, you would be welcome to do so, where availability allows, and subject to any price difference.
Our management team meet on a daily basis or as required to discuss the evolving situation and we will update this statement as any circumstances or advice change.
We look forward to welcoming you to Longstone Lodge in 2020.
Colin, Amy and Suzy
